For Elizabeth's 40th (Aug 10, 05), we decided to adorn the queen. She arrived blindfolded and we invited her to step inside the magic circle (i.e. a pink and yello Hula Hoop)

wow. wow. the 10th annual KTFI conference (kidpower, teenpower, fullpower international) was a raving success. and a nightmare of a workload. along with the usual cast and crew from north america and new zealand (no euros made it this time) we were joined by asad, rana, and kalpana from bangladesh - ramana from andrah pradesh, india - parvaiz from pakistan - rhea from the philippines - thuy (pronounced twee) from vietnam - macbain from malawi (where the currency is the fun to say kwacha) - otim from uganda - dabesaki, ogo, and tayo from nigeria - and miguel from peru. all were amazing. some work directly with children living on and working the streets (in amazing and creative ways!), some are connected to the highest levels of government and the u.n., some are both. all will be adapting parts of our curriculum, parvaiz is opening a center in islamabad!! discussions have begun of translating our childrens safefy comics for teachers into peruvian spanish, telugu, bengali, urdu, tagalag, vietnamese, yoruba, and several other tribal languages whose names i have forgotten!!! and there is a good chance at least miguel, asad, and parvaiz will come to instructor training in santa cruz in 2006 (if they can get u.s. visas grrrr)
