Garage Sales - Whee!
Submitted by Remington on Sun, 2005-08-07 20:30.So after getting scooped at Oli's garage sale (some other lucky bugger got all the elwire before I got there, but I can't complain, I got the brightly-colored liquid latex) I thought it'd be worth spending some time finding out what else you can get at garage sales these days. And today it paid off! Well, maybe. Anyway, iMacs are now going for two for $25, so I picked up a pair of them. But only because one of them was sapphire blue. I'm not payin' good money for a computer that isn't even blue!
I've never really used Macs or Apples much, except for making furniture, of course. So I'm looking forward to exploring the delights of MacOs. One of the joys of buying used computers is finding out what the previous owner left on them... Does anyone else do this? Boot it up and root through all the previous owner's files? Morally, it's about on the level of going through someone's medicine cabinet, but I always rationalize it by telling myself I may discover important data that they've overlooked and may -really- want back. And alternately, that if they wanted it to be secret, they woulda wiped the hard drive.
Hot Rides & Cheap Thrills

Just in from Amsterdam...thought I'd share a pic of my favorite bicycle in town.
Fascinating modes of transport abound. We found a car that was giving the original Mini a run for it's money in the size department. Ah but the canals....truly idyllic. People watching was such good value too. We saw grandmothers riding bicycles with toddlers in the bins on front of the bikes. Saw dad's with tiny babies in baskets on the handlebars, businessmen in suits, ties flapping in the breeze as they zoomed past. Local kids and parents strolling through town did not bother to divert themselves when they came upon the sex shops.

Submitted by ocrow on Tue, 2005-07-26 00:07.I sold a bunch of bulky items from the basement on my steps yesterday. I feel very virtuous about this, for having passed on great gear at ludicrously low prices; but not entirely philanthropic, since I did make some cash too. In a very Burning Man sort of way, it was just the sort of yard sale that I would want to attend. Electronics, blacklights, a unicycle, a dome covering, a sleeping bag. The sort of event from which spouses had to be dragged.

Submitted by ocrow on Fri, 2005-07-22 15:56.It's all change all the time, here at inconsistency central. My nice calm, predictable life is suddenly full of radical ... radicalness. The latest shake up is that since I told the landlord I'm moving out, he has decided to sell the house. In what shape does this leave my house mate? She would like to stay, but he wants her to go, so he can rennovate the kitchen and put the place on the market.
Welcome to Waymoot
Submitted by ocrow on Fri, 2005-07-22 03:19.Hullo everyone. This is Waymoot, a place for our litte group of travellers to stay connected.
Waymoot is an old name for the town of Waymeet, east of Michel Delving in the West Farthing of the Shire. Sitting as it does at the crossing of four small roads, it is an excellent place to break one's journey, and stop for a quick chat.
